This includes a local company developing new technology that is supporting the safety of Canadian Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls against COVID-19, the Region’s newest – and Canada’s only – ‘smart hospital’ officially opening for full care delivery service, and a prestigious global recognition was awarded to a York Region hospital for its integration of cutting edge technology its business and clinical programs.

BioCloud is a real-time air analyzer designed to detect airborne pathogens and these safe space technology units will be used at the Olympic Games within Team Canada’s residential areas including the Athletes’ Village.

Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital opens as ‘full-service hospital’ after being exclusively for COVID

The new Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital is the very first smart hospital in Canada, initially opened to support the COVID-19 response, officially opened as a full-service hospital on June 6, 2021. Integrating “smart” technology into system designs, allows devices to easily communicate information to each other, ensuring important material quickly gets to where it needs to go.

If a patient is in need, alerts can be sent directly to wearable devices on healthcare workers. Allowing them to know exactly where and what is happening while hospital beds and IV pumps automatically move into action. By using new forms of tech, hospital care is made more efficient and effective through removing delay.  

Mackenzie Health in Richmond Hill is the Only Hospital in Canada to Earn 2020 CHIME Digital Health Most Wired Recognition

Mackenzie Health Hospital in Richmond Hill was the only Canadian hospital to earn CHIME Digital Health Most Wired Recognition in 2020! This award showcases just how productively technology has been integrated into business and clinical programs. From the start of the pandemic, they already had the tech foundation to take services online, smoothly conducting over 40,000 virtual telemedicine meetings. While using data analysis to keep track of everything from PPE supplies to critical care capacity to levels of community burden, ensuring needs are met.
