Where Talent and Opportunity Intersect: New Marketing Strategy Promotes the Benefits of Locating in York Region

York Region’s new marketing strategy will target executive decision-makers across the Region, the GTA and internationally. The strategy reflects findings of an extensive office market analysis study, which concluded promoting the Region’s advantages as a destination of choice for office users would grow local jobs and attract quality employers – particularly in Regional city centres and along major transit corridors.

Newmarket – York Regional Council heard today about a new approach to encourage economic development in the Region.

York Region’s new marketing and communications strategy promotes the Region as the place “where talent and opportunity intersect.” With a new “York Link” identity, York Region aims to attract even more office employment and developments.

“More businesses are choosing to locate in York Region due to our access to talent and our extensive investments in modern infrastructure,” said York Region Chairman and CEO Wayne Emmerson. “This new marketing strategy will allow us to better promote all of the benefits of living, working and investing in one of the fastest growing regions in Canada.”

Over 85 per cent of the Region’s working residents are in services and knowledge-based occupations such as financial services, business and office administration, information technology, engineering, health care, management and professional services. However, many of them commute to work outside the Region.

“Continued growth in office jobs in York Region will strengthen our economic resilience and it will mean more York Region residents will also have the opportunity to work here,” said City of Vaughan Regional Councillor Michael Di Biase, Chair of Planning and Economic Development. “York Region’s investments in transit, and its planning for more livable communities, position us well to attract future office developments.”

All local municipalities in York Region have been engaged in the development of the new strategy, and will continue to be engaged throughout its implementation. This will help to align business retention, expansion and attraction efforts across the Region.
