To show that drones can safely operate autonomously, Markham-based SkyX is currently working closely with Transport Canada.
So far, SkyX has received regulatory guidance for performing beyond visual line-of-sight (BVLOS) operations in Canada. BVLOS operations mean flying the unmanned drone without the remote pilot having to keep it in visual line of sight at all times.
The more these drone companies can amend regulations enabling them to fly their unmanned flying aircraft, the more applicable usage will take place in the marketplace, spurring more commercial changes and innovation.
