According to the Agriculture and Agri-food strategy report, the economic impact of the agri-food chain in York Region is over six billion dollars. From humble roots in farming over one-hundred years ago, to gross farm sales of $301 million in 2016, the agriculture industry continues to grow.
To further evaluate the current state of the agriculture industry, last year York Regional staff collaborated with the York Region Agricultural Advisory Liaison Group and a third-party consultant, Synthesis Agri-food Network, to survey industry stakeholders. A total of 140 food producers, restaurant industry members and residents provided feedback.
