York University’s new Markham campus marks ‘topping out’ milestone with ceremony

Markham mayor Frank Scarpitti congratulated on York University for this latest milestone, “The new campus will complement our growing downtown with its beautifully designed architecture and inviting entrance. We look forward to the official opening in 2024.”

On Feb. 1, the building of York University’s new Markham campus marked an important phase with the final structural I-beam lifted and placed by a crane to complete the building’s frame.

The milestone was recognized with a ceremonial signing of the final beam attended by university leaders and local dignitaries. Markham campus is set to open in spring 2024.
