York Region is hosting a walking tour of Yonge Street Corridor in Richmond Hill entitled Walk & Talk with York Region’s Chief Planner. Yonge Street is a great example of a York Region’ corridor experiencing intensification along multiple nodes. Over the past decade, Yonge Street in Richmond Hill has undergone a transformation for people of all ages including a mix of shops, recreation, jobs, housing and transportation options.
Come and hear from Regional and Richmond Hill planning, economic development and Regional transit and transportation staff on how the Yonge Corridor is being developed as part of the Region’s larger city building initiatives. York Region Public Health will be in attendance to promote the benefits of healthy built environments. The 2 hour tour will include a charter bus ride and stops along Yonge Street for a favour of transitions in the different character areas and see new developments. The tour will begin and end at the York Region Transit Office at 50 High Tech Road.
York Region is currently undertaking the Municipal Comprehensive Review (MCR) process to update the Regional Official Plan. The updated Official Plan will guide decisions on land use planning and infrastructure delivery, while building on direction provided through provincial planning documents. Use york.ca/mcrgetinvolved to stay informed.
As part of the MCR process, York Region is creating a video entitled “As You Said It” to get various perspectives from residents and business operations on growth in the community, future trends, opportunities and challenges and what future priorities should be the focus for the Region. York Region invites you to participate in this; however, only those who agree to be videoed will be recorded.”
