Vaughan-Based Daisy Intelligence Has An Artificial Intelligence Story To Tell at Collision | York Link Tech Interview

YORK LINK TECHNOLOGY INTERVIEW SERIES
Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence SaaS company, Daisy Intelligence, is recognized as one of Toronto area’s leading start-ups and named by Gartner as ‘Cool Vendor in AI for Retail.’

This is the first year that Collision, North America’s fastest growing tech conference, is being held in Toronto, Canada. The 3-day event is expected to attract over 25,000 people. The York Link team is excited to bring the #YRtech Experience Pavilion to #CollisionConf 2019 in Toronto! Eight companies and four major innovation partners, plus a few innovation startups from across the Region will be showcasing their technology and even recruiting tech talent along the way. York Region has a thriving tech community with over 4,300 tech companies, the second largest tech cluster in the Toronto area and Canada.

In our latest #YRtech series interview we’re catching up with Vaughan-based Daisy Intelligence, a fast-growing artificial intelligence (A.I.) tech company and recent winner of the Canadian Fintech Summit 3.0’s ‘Future of Retail Pitch Battle’. We caught up with their team to ask a few questions about their presence at Collision, the future of their industry, and what they are looking for in prospective tech talent.

Staff at Daisy IntelligenceWith such a large and varied audience attending Collision, who does Daisy Intelligence hope to connect with at the conference and why?

We’re excited that Collision is coming to Toronto. It reflects how the Greater Toronto Area has emerged as a growing and vibrant global technology hub.

At Collision, we’re looking to connect with people interested in learning more about artificial intelligence and how it can make a positive financial impact on fast-growing businesses. We also want to highlight how Daisy has become one of Canada’s most dynamic A.I. companies. We have a great story to tell. We’re looking forward to meeting people who not only live in Canada, but attendees coming to Collision from countries around the world.

Can you talk about the technology Daisy Intelligence will be demonstrating within the #YRtech Experience Pavilion and offer some thoughts on being part of this unique regional technology showcase at Collision?

First, we’re looking forward to taking part in a showcase of what’s happening within the tech community in York Region. It’s a great opportunity for us to connect with entrepreneurs to learn about what they do and how they’re growing.

As important, we want to show people how our A.I.-powered technology is driving higher profits and sales for grocery retailers and insurance companies. We’re looking to build brand awareness and connect with potential partners, employees, and investors. We really appreciate York Region’s support and the opportunity to put local technology in the spotlight.

Looking into the future, how will technology continue to transform your company and industry?

AI graph over the inside of a grocery storeWhile many people are beginning to understand the impact of artificial intelligence, we’ve been focused on it on for many years. We have retail and insurance customers around the world using our A.I.-powered technology to change how they operate. It’s great to help companies embrace innovative ideas and technologies so they can drive their businesses forward.

As A.I. continues to improve and evolve, the benefits for businesses will become more apparent; we’re talking about things such as driving significantly stronger financial results, improving productivity, and letting employees focus on making better strategic decisions rather than time-consuming manual tasks. We’re fortunate to have extensive A.I. experience and expertise to establish industry thought leadership. We believe the opportunities going forward are limitless.

For tech talent on the hunt for a career in this area of tech what skills will set them apart?

At Daisy, one of the keys to our success is a vibrant corporate culture. We’ve created a workplace that allows people to do their best work, grow, and learn. Employees who succeed at Daisy enjoy the following:

  • They like being part of a team. We are building something amazing together. Employees say they love the team spirit!
  • They’re exposed to, and part of the future of machine learning and artificial intelligence. The team is learning new and leading-edge skills that contribute to the company’s success and individual growth.

It’s not easy, it’s a startup, and there is always lots to do! Employees enjoy seeing the results of their work applied successfully in large organizations. And employees share in that success. We try and combine the hard work with; not taking ourselves too seriously and having fun along the way!
