Vaughan-based Drone Delivery Canada to Transport Pandemic Supplies to Georgina Island First Nation

While some still think drones are disruptive technology, drones are the future for the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation.

With COVID-19 cases on the rise again throughout the province coupled with the unpredictable winds winter brings, Georgina Island First Nation was a prime candidate for the federal government’s drone delivery pilot project, said band councilor William McCue.

The six-month pilot project will see small drones fly over Lake Simcoe to deliver personal protection equipment and medical supplies for island residents as part of the band’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
