This is the first year that Collision, North America’s fastest growing tech conference, is being held in Toronto, Canada. The 3-day event is expected to attract over 25,000 people. The York Link team is excited to bring the #YRtech Experience Pavilion to #CollisionConf 2019 in Toronto! Eight companies and four major innovation partners, plus a few innovation startups from across the Region will be showcasing their technology and even recruiting tech talent along the way. York Region has a thriving tech community with over 4,300 tech companies, the second largest tech cluster in the Toronto area and Canada.
In our latest #YRtech series interview we’re catching up with Ontario’s Exporter of the Year, Laipac Technology. Headquartered in Richmond Hill, York Region, Laipac’s products – focused heavily on IoT – can be found in over 100 countries! We caught up with their team to ask a few questions about their presence at Collision, the future of their industry, and what they are looking for in prospective tech talent.
With such a large and varied audience attending Collision, who does Laipac hope to connect with at the conference and why?
We are an IoT products company and we are always looking to connect with entrepreneurs and innovators to find news ideas and concepts. We also look for partnership and investors to push our company to the next level.
Can you talk about the technology Laipac will be demonstrating within the #YRtech Experience Pavilion and offer some thoughts on being part of this unique regional technology showcase at Collision?
Laipac will be showcasing our smartwatch technology in the #YRtech Experience Pavilion. Our award-winning LooK Watch by German Design Award for consumer applications and our S911 Enforcer electronic bracelet for law enforcement applications.
Laipac received the ‘Ontario Exporter of The Year 2018’ award by Manufacturing Canada and EDC and it demonstrates our product’s global reach from York region. We expect to connect with all participants and build the awareness of ‘Made in Canada’ products.
Looking into the future, how will technology continue to transform your company and industry?
Technology innovation is our bread and butter. It is what we live for and what we know. We will continue developing innovated products for years to come and hope some of them will be revolutionary enough that they can have capacity to change the world for the better.
For tech talent on the hunt for a career in this area of tech what skills will set them apart?
We think the creativity is very important. Creativity with a fearless attitude is a good combination for a great product designer. Of course, good engineering skills are also required in order to change the world.
